Set Parental Controls with the XFINITY stream

Learn how to set up Parental Controls to limit the programs that your child can watch through the XFINITY Stream app. We'll show you how to set up Parental Controls using the Apple version of the mobile app. The procedures are essentially the same for the Android mobile app, but the steps or screens may be slightly different. The XFINITY Stream app is available to all customers with XFINITY TV or Instant TV. Some features may vary depending on your services.

Set Parental Controls with the XFINITY Stream App

Parental Controls are not shared between devices, so you'll need to complete this process on each device where you'd like to apply Parental Controls. You can also apply different Parental Controls on each device.

  1. Swipe left to right anywhere on the screen to open the main menu.
  2. Tap the Settings wheel at the bottom of the menu.

  4. In the Settings menu, tap Parental Controls.

  6. In the Parental Controls menu, tap the On/Off switchnext to Parental Controls.

  8. In the create PIN pop-up box, enter a four-digit Parental Control PIN.

  10. In the verify PIN pop-up box, re-enter your new PIN. Write down your PIN and keep it in a safe place. If you forget your Parental Control PIN, you'll need tocontact us to reset it.

XFINITY™ TV Remote Mobile App

You can set parental controls through the XFINITY TV Remote Mobile App. The parental controls that you set in My Account (used to control access viewed through XFINITYTV.com) will also apply to content viewed through the XFINITY TV Remote App.

  1. Click on Settings and select Parental Controls.

Within the Parental Controls Navigation, you can select to show or block Adult Content (off by default) or select Manage Parental Controls to log into My Account and adjust your global XFINITY TV Parental Control settings. These parental control settings will be applied to your content controls for XFINITYTV.com, the XFINITY TV Remote App, and the XFINITY™ Player App. Note: These Parental Controls settings do not apply to your TV Cable Box.

Set Parental Controls for Content on Network Websites and Apps

Learn how to set up Parental Controls to control the content that your household can watch on network websites and apps, such as NBC, The Disney Channel, WatchESPN and Fox Now.

Network websites and apps provide the freedom to watch many of your favorite shows, movies, news, sports and more on your own terms - when you want, where you want, and on the most convenient device available - for free with your XFINITY TV service. Parental Controls for network websites and apps are set at the household level.

Steps to Enable Parental Controls

  1. On your Internet-connected device, sign into your My XFINITY as the primary user. Select My Account
  2. Select Settings in the top menu.

  4. In the Settings menu, within the Username, Passwords & PINs section, select Parental Controls.

  6. In the Parental Controls section, select Edit.

  8. In the Network Sites and Apps section, select Manage Settings.

  10. In the Parental Controls menu, select Turn On. Now that you've enabled Parental Controls, you can set up additional controls to limit what your household watches on network websites and apps.

Locking Movies and TV shows by Rating

Use the TV Ratings and Movie Ratings controls to block your household from watching TV programs that have a specific rating.

  1. In the Parental Controls window, navigate to the TV Shows and Movie Restrictions.

  3. On the Movie Rating Slider, tap the highest movie rating your household is allowed to watch. On the TV Rating Slider, tap the highest TV rating your household is allowed to watch. A lock icon appears next to the ratings that you locked.

  5. When you are finished, tap the Save button.

Locking Channels

Use the Channel controls to prevent your household from watching a particular channel.

  1. In the Parental Controls window tap Edit within the Lock specific channels.

  3. In the Lock channels window:
    • Tap each network that you want to lock.

    • Tap Unlock All to unlock all channels.

  4. When you are finished, tap the Save button. That's it! Your household will only be able to watch unlocked channels on network websites and apps.screenshot of save button
